Wakefield Council, the University of Huddersfield, and the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre have launched the new Wakefield District Economic Wellbeing Strategy 2024 – 2029, with the aim of improving the wellbeing of the people and communities of Wakefield by nurturing a just economy. The strategy builds on what works well and boldly tackles what doesn’t.
In this first report, Esseco UK is among the 100 entities contributing to Wakefield District’s social well-being and business.
As can be read on the Wakefield First website, the strategy focuses on three key core ambitions, underpinned by nine defined and impactful missions:
- Deliver a just transition for Wakefield’s carbon-intensive businesses and springboard our key industries of the future.
- Generate high-quality and rewarding employment for Wakefield’s growing population.
- Drive more Wakefield businesses to work for the benefit of Wakefield.
It is a noble project, placing the territory of Wakefield and its communities at the centre of a long-term development plan, and Esseco UK is proud to actively participate.
